instructor / trainer for 3 decades, Judi Novak has
worked with students and horses in Loudoun County for
23 years. After graduating with a BA in Equestrian
Studies from Lake Erie College in Ohio, Judi traveled to

Medalist Torrance Watkins prompted the move to
Virginia, and after three years with Torrance, Judi went
to work with Trip Hoffman in Chantilly, training and
selling horses. The years subsequent to that of
free-lance work with competitive event horses and
riders led to a 7-year position teaching in the riding
department at Foxcroft - a private girls high school in
Middleburg. After the birth of their first child, Judi
and
her husband Mark moved the family to Purcellville from
where she has worked part-time to coach both pleasure

Susan Dunk
Susan
has been riding in the Northern Virginia area since the
age of 8, where she started under the watchful eye of
Red Gate’s own Pam Kunkel! She got her first horse at
age 12, and showed hunter/jumpers as a teen while
working, training and exercising horses. In college, she
groomed and rode for the Penn State equestrian team.

as an Events Planner and foxhunting. Susan
started her own business in the children’s industry,
which turned into a brief TV career. Susan has
been at Red Gate for two years, and currently oversees
Group Events and teaches privates and semi-privates to
beginners. Her favorite part of being RGF is seeing the
faces of people when they get on a horse for the first
time!! She lives in
Hamilton with her two mastiffs, her fabulous husband
John and her two kids, Jake and Sarah (who also rides at
RGF!) Susan has been a favorite instructor here
